The Wheel of Action is a colorful spinning wheel designed to help people discover and commit to environmental actions in a fun and engaging way. Participants spin the wheel to randomly select a sustainability challenge—such as reducing food waste, taking a shorter shower, biking instead of driving, planting pollinator flowers, or trying a plant-based meal—and then commit to completing the action.

The activity is built around the behavioral science principle of commitment devices, which increase the likelihood that people will follow through on intentions by making a public or personal commitment. The element of chance introduces novelty and excitement, while removing the paralysis that can occur when people are presented with too many choices.

The Wheel of Action is particularly effective at community events, classrooms, workplaces, and sustainability campaigns where organizers want to convert awareness into immediate action. By transforming environmental behavior into a playful challenge, the wheel helps participants take their first step toward lasting habit change while creating memorable and positive experiences around sustainability.
