The City Scale Emissions Display is a large public dashboard that visualizes a city's real-time electricity-related carbon emissions through simple colors, numbers, charts, and action prompts.

Installed in prominent public locations, the display makes the carbon intensity of the grid visible to residents, businesses, policymakers, and utilities as conditions change throughout the day.

The system used an approach is called "community scale feedback" showing real-time feedback, disclosure, and public visualization to transform invisible emissions into a shared community metric.

During high-demand periods such as hot summer afternoons, the display can encourage actions such as reducing electricity use, delaying discretionary loads, or participating in demand response programs.

At the same time, it highlights the broader systems responsible for emissions, creating awareness of the need for cleaner energy infrastructure, grid modernization, building electrification, and renewable energy deployment.

The project is designed to support both individual behavior change and system-wide transformation by helping residents, businesses, utilities, and governments rally around a common goal.
