A coloring activity to help young students gain scientific literacy of the difference between aerobic and anaerobic digestion.
Compost Heroes vs. Methane Monsters!
Color the helpful compost microbes and the methane-making microbes. Then learn how food scraps break down in different ways. When compost has plenty of air, helpful decomposers turn food into healthy soil. But when food rots without oxygen in a landfill, methane-producing microbes create methane gas—a powerful greenhouse gas. Composting helps keep food waste out of landfills and stops Methane Monsters from growing stronger.
