Host a group workshop about water-heating carbon calculations, flow rates, and a Shower Sprint Challenge – all designed to encourage the heat pump water heater transition.
In Mission 5 of Earth Doctors, participants investigate where our water comes from, how it gets to our homes, and how much energy it takes to heat the water we use every day.
Through hands-on calculations and experiments, participants measure water flow rates, calculate the energy and carbon impact of hot water, and discover how small changes to everyday routines can add up to meaningful savings. The worksheet includes calculating the emissions required for heat pumps hot water heats vs fossil fuel sources.
The mission culminates in a Shower Sprint Challenge—a practical experiment to see how much water, energy, and carbon can be saved by taking a faster shower.
