Imagine what a thermal camera might see on this detailed urban heat island coloring sheet.

Thermal Stickers

Find which parts of the home might be losing heat using color-changing thermal stickers.

Thermal Drone

Hire a commercial thermal drone operator to map your school in summer and see how much heat different materials are holding.

Step 1: Lay out the Materials

Put your thermal materials on a board.

Step 2: Heat With A Heat Lamp

Warm the board for 10 minutes with the heat lamp (or leave it in direct sun if it’s a hot day).

Step 3: View With Thermal Camera

View the board with a FLIR thermal camera, write the temperatures of the materials on the worksheet, and rank them in order.
